Ingredients
-
1.5 Pounds Ground Beef
-
1 Bell Pepper
-
1 Onion
-
2 Cloves Garlic
-
1 Cup Tomato Sauce
-
.5 Cup Ketchup
-
2 Teaspoons Dijon Mustard
-
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
-
8-10 Buns
Directions
- Cook Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook while stirring and chopping it apart until it is fully cooked and all the pink is gone. Remove the meat from the pan and set aside in a bowl.
- Saute Vegetables: Dice bell pepper and onion. Mince garlic. Add bell pepper and onion to the same pan you cooked the meat in and saute over medium-high heat until they are tender. Add the garlic and saute for about a minute more.
- Add Remaining Ingredients: Add tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, worcestershire sauce, and vinegar. Add the cooked ground beef and stir until combined. Simmer for 20 minutes on low heat to combine all the flavors. Taste and add salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside for serving.
- Serve: Serve a large portion of the sloppy joe mixture on each bun. Serve with a side of potato chips or french fries.
Meal Prep Tip:
The sloppy joe meat will keep well in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Heat the mixture and put on the buns just before serving to avoid it getting soggy.
